AV Enhanced Classroom Continuously striving to bridge the gap between the worlds of academia and business, elite engineering school Stevens Institute of Technology turned to an alumni and Verrex to custom design the institute’s audiovisual systems. Since ground breaking, Verrex has been involved in the design and integration of AV into the 95,000 square foot educational facility.

Steven’s administration required state-of-the-art technology, including videoconferencing, front and rear projection systems, audioconferencing and remote control of various sources. The project scope consisted of a 125-seat circular auditorium, a dozen executive classrooms, one faculty conference room and a display system in the public atrium.

Open Area CHALLENGES
A three year construction schedule was delayed due to asbestos removal and a slow-track general contractor. Steven’s administration required all systems to be vandal-proof in an open classroom scenario. In-depth systems training and support was needed once the facility was operational.

AV Enhanced Classroom SOLUTION
Dynamically adjusting to changes in schedules allowed Verrex to complete installations as soon as the general contractor turned rooms over for audio and video. Verrex engineers worked closely with Steven’s administration and the consultant on all design, architectural and project management details, ensuring all priorities and requirements were met. A plan for post-installation training and support, including a Verrex service agreement, was in place prior to systems’ launch.

SYSTEM HIGHLIGHTS
Projectors, motorized projector lifts, motorized projection screens, rear projection screen systems, videoconferencing systems, matrix switchers pan/tilt/zoom video cameras, audio matrix mixers, wireless microphone systems, amplifiers, ceiling loudspeakers, control systems and 12" wireless touchpanels.
